A wedding is always hectic, but I am guessing when it is yours it’s like a hurricane. With my sister’s big day being tomorrow, I’ve been a part of the eye of the storm. But, in this case, they’ve taught me how preparation can make things very smooth. Today there is no running around, no last minute tasks, just a little work and then the rehearsal dinner.

I was the event coordinator last night for the bonfire. A weird thing happened. All day and into the night a stiff breeze blew off of the lake, south toward the houses. The bonfire I had built was large, not to 4th of July standards, but not to normal fire standards either. Because of the wind, there were calls to bag the fire altogether. I was having none of that. I took some wood off to eliminate a house hazard. At about 9 AM Bryan and I went out to the fire with liters in hand. The wind had dropped slightly, but as we lit it, the wind gusted briefly, causing the flames to blaze. As soon as the fire started, the wind stopped. And was never to be heard from again. Strange. The night temp was perfect, mid 60′s. The stars came in and out of view above the clouds. And a crowd of close to 30 socialized.

Time to go to the post office, come back, shower, rehearse and then dinner party. Enjoy the weekend.
