Today was my first swim in the Lake (Ontario) of the summer. It is about 90 degrees here today. I slept at my sister’s place last night and got back to the lake at about 11. I threw my suit on, tied on my dad’s mowing shoes, and went out to the shed to start the lawn mower. My cousin Kyle and I take turns doing the lot in front. This weekend was me.

It felt good to have my shirt off and have the sun hit. As bad as it is for your skin, the sun feels good. I did wear a hat though. My head needs to stay out of the UV.

I won’t give you the row by row, but I finished, it was hot and I hit the lake. If you are a pool person, you won’t like Lake Ontario. It is a huge lake. Nothing like the man made likes down south. This thing is miles across. All the way to Canada. This means it takes a while for it to warm up. I walked out and was glad to know it did not numb me legs. It wasn’t a bath, but it wasn’t ice. I walked out onto the sandy bottom (can’t beat that) and did the high knee run and dove in. Note: it is not wise to walk leisurely into cold water, especially once it gets above your thighs. Under water the heat of the day was washed away. I was invigorated. I swam around for a few minutes and dunked my head a few times.

From there I got out and dried off. My uncle came out and wanted to go swimming, so I repeated the above steps. This time we stayed in longer and walked out the second sand bar, where the water is up to your/my arm pits. We stayed in for about 10 minutes. Then my day called.

Laundry is in. Lunch is in my belly. I’ve answered all of the new emails that have come in since the Observer article. It is still amazing that I get emails from people I don’t know. I love it.

Time to nap, shower, and pack for the Tom Petty/ Black Crowe’s concert. Should be hot, but awesome.
