The night comes to a close. I feel good that I was busy getting ready to leave today. I hit most of the things on my to do list:

Bank

Gas

Bills

Laundry

Pack

Clean Car

Print directions

I did these, some not to the max, but I am ready. I went out to eat with my parents and their friends for the 5:30 dinner. Good stuff.

I found the card of the woman I met on the ferry on my way to Martha’s Vineyard. I had thought I lost it. That was a good thing to come from the cleaning/packing.

Mapquest says 12 hours and 30 minutes. Close to 700 or so miles, I can’t remember and the sheet is in the car.

I have my ham and cheese sandwiches ready. I am going to see my old roommate from college, King. He’s the guy at Lefever in Arkansas. He’s now moved to Asheville. I think he may have a Halloween costume waiting for me: a Hazmat guy. I also found a CD he had burned for me when I was there. It’s a data/MP3 CD. It has tons of songs on it. Good stuff and stuff I’ve never heard of (he’s the music man): Wilco, Lemonheads, Strokes, Flaming Lips, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Superchunk, Silver Jews, Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn, Red House Painters, Pixies, Pavement, Mark Kozelek, and Guided by Voices. I don’t know all of them, but I have a few new CD’s for the road.

Time for bed, a 6 AM wake up call on a Saturday, and hopefully a decent day of weather. See you in NC…
