If you’re not from the Northeast, here is a weird happening. The weather has been grey and windy for quite a few days. The temps ranging from the 20′s up to the 50′s. With the low temps and snow come salt trucks. I still marvel at how well they keep the roads clean for snow. Mammoth trucks that double as plow and salt trucks quadron off and blanket the streets with salt. The snow comes and the salt melts it. I’m not sure what the salt does but it makes the roads drivable. When I lived in Charlotte the city would shut down at the threat of snow. Schools would close just at a forecast. This was because they could not get rid of the snow or treat it like they can up here. So, the point of this is that salt is not good for your car. It corrodes and rusts your vehicle. So today it is 50 degrees. I have not washed my car in weeks. I’d like to clean it just to clean it, but also the salt thing is a factor. I bought my car down south, it doesn’t have rust protection. Is there such a thing as rust protection? I know they sell it up here. Part of me thinks I should rush outside and wash the old Santa Fe. Another part of me looked at the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Snow and rain. Does the rain wash the salt off? Or do you need to go spend $10 at a car wash or go out and do it yourself, which is my option. I will contemplate my dilemma and get back to the writing.
