Jacksonville, FL

Today was a day to catch up. I had a lot of emails to look at and some pictures to download. I did what I could and then set off with my hosts to see some of Jacksonville. The downtown is set right on the water/river. You could see the football stadium. We walked along the river and across the way to the Landing, a mall type area where a jazz festival was going on. One of the Florida storms blew in, so we did not stay long. Long enough for an ice cream cone though.

The Super Bowl will be here in 2005. I can see why. The buildings and downtown are very cool. I hope Charlotte’s downtown can evolve to this and to a Super Bowl in the future.

We then drove back and had another feast. I’m not sure what it is about this house, but the food is amazing and I sleep like a baby. We had chicken breasts with the bone on the grill, some homemade german potato salad, some corn, and the best homemade apple sauce (sorry Nana). Yummy stuff. I don’t understand how I can come back from Club Med with feast after feast, but the food I had today was much better. Maybe I’m just a simple kind of guy.

After rain storm #2 came and went, we went to Sonic for milkshakes. I guess I had never been there and sat, but that was cool. We then came back and watched the Braves game. Glenn and Ginny said I can write this chapter about my 3 days with the old people. I say it will be about meeting new family and making new friends, no matter how old you are. As a 28 year old single guy, I was very content and happy sitting on the couch on a Saturday night with my new family. It will be sad to go to Orlando, but I’m looking forward to a new place as well.

Thanks for everything Glenn and Ginny, you’ve been great hosts!
