First off, Happy Valentine’s Day. I am not a big fan of the marketer’s holiday, but when you get the chance to tell your special person they are special, that can’t be so bad.

I just got back to home base, TA’s, after having a 2 1/2 hour breakfast with my college writing professor. Dr. A was the professor I wanted my parents to meet at graduation. We worked on a piece over a few semesters that really helped me evolve as a person. It dealt with the loss of my friend to suicide during my first semester of college. It took me a long time to get over that, not that you really ever do, but my writing helped in the grief process.

It was great to spend some time with him now that I have more of an adult brain and outlook. We talked about his editorial work on a new journal and my book, but mainly we talked about life. The power of Mother Nature was discussed and what she allows us to think about when give ourselves the time and space to slow down. And we talked about our past work and how it helped both of us. I’m heading to my brothers in Memphis shortly and hope he has the copy of “So We Did” I gave him.

I also have a few new books to check out.

Email time, repacking the car, and then I-40 east…
