South Brunswick, NJ
7:15 PM
It’s been a busy day. I made the 5 and a half hour drive to near Princeton, NJ. I got on the road 30 minutes later than targeted, at 8:30. I hit the Thurway and followed Bryan’s page and a half of detailed directions to the T. They were perfect, as I never got lost and saw all of the gas stations and hot dog stands he used as landmarks. Way better than Mapquest. I am at Bryan’s house, the house he was born and raised in. I am staying in his room which is still the same as when he left for college. The hockey picutres, the trophies, and the hockey pucks remain intact. It’s awesome to see his house and be with his mother and brother. Again, I have gracious hosts taking me in. It’s really neat to see the place a friend of yours grew up. I see baby pictures and newspaper clippings of the hockey stud. I see pictures of he, Caytie and his family from their cruise.
I arrived at about 2:15 and came in to see Ginny. She was busy with her job in child care. There were 5 kids at the house ranging from 8 months to 3 years. We all smiled and the ones that could said hello. There was an Andrew there and he didn’t know what to do when I told him I was Andrew. I came in and spoke with Ginny for a few. She told me she had an interview for me at 3 if I was up to it. I was a little worn out, but a doctor was waiting, so I put on a better shirt, brushed the Doritos off of my breath, and headed out. I arrived right on time and met a really nice, young female doctor. She was not a doctor from birth like some, as she started in journalism. It was cool to see someone who had questioned and found their calling. The Andrew I had met earlier is hers. She and her husband have been in the area for a few years and she has been at the practice for almost one.
We wrapped up our interview and I came back to the house. Michael, Bryan’s brother, was here. He and I decided to venture down to Princeton and Comp USA. My moment of reckoning was growing near. I had my laptop and the new hard drvie Compaq had sent. I brought it in to the service department. After some explanation and some fear on my part, they said they would transfer the data from my old drive to the new one. There was no garuantee it would work, only a $100 garuantee that they would try. They did say if they couldn’t transfer it, they would give it back as it was, but still take my money. So now I stress and type this from their computer.
We just finsihed a hearty meal of southern chicken, french fries, and New Jersey’s finest sweet corn. The corn was the best.
Now I wait for Comp USA to call. They said by Saturday. I leave for NYC on Saturday. I’ll call them tomorrow.
I have a couple more interviews set for tomorrow. The CPU takes precedent, especially in my brain. I don’t really have a contingency plan for that.
