Charleston, SC

Today was my cousin’s birthday. Happy Day Kevin. He and I both worked today. We both did some emails and phone calls. I actually made contact with the PR person from Playboy, yeah baby. Their 50th Anniversary Tour will be here tomorrow and I tried to swing an interview. I got a pretty standard PR rep response. I’ll let you know if I interview a bunny or not. That would be cool. But PR people want to know how many people the interview will reach and what’s in it for the client. If I contacted the client directly, my chances would be much better, but PR people have to make a living too. So, I need to fine tune my pitch to the PR folks. I’m working on it.

I had lunch today with Kevin and a very established artist in Charleston and the country. This guy paints, is an architect, and does movie making and writing. He was a very cool dude. I asked him a few questions, but not enough for an interview. It was fun for me to sit as these two artists (I’m not sure if I’ve said, but Kevin is an artist here) talked about a project. They’re going to be doing some film work for a city publicity piece. They talked and I listened.

Since it was Kevin’s bday, there was a dinner for him. We overtook a restaurant with a stuffy manager who did not like the look of us in our sandals. I bet he liked the check. The food was great. I went local, ordering a lobster, shrimp, and scallop dish over grits. We are now back at the house and just devoured a mammoth 4 layer chocolate cake Cathy made. This is a treat for both of them since they are low carb eaters. It was incredible. The cake was at least 6 inches high. I’m stuffed.

I hope to hear from Heffner’s crew tomorrow. Me and the Playboy girls will be hanging out. It will be interesting to see if they are deeper/more intellectual than my preconceived notion. It will also be interesting to see how hot they are. A young man can dream about the whole Playboy thing. And any guy, no matter what they say, has had the thought. I am guessing it will stay a thought.
