Houma, LA

It’s 2 PM and I’m sitting in a huge screened in porch at a beautiful home in Houma, LA. This is the house where I’ll be staying tonight and interviewing the homeowners. They graciously offered to put me up without even talking to me before. How great is that? I learned of them through a friend and fraternity brother. He set it up and here I am.

The television is turned to mother nature. I am sitting in a lounge chair with my laptop on my bag. To my right is a running fountain (again, the water). Outside to my right is another fountain and numerous bird feeders. The chorus rings out form time to time as they bathe and feed. A squirrel or two displays their athleticism as they try to get to the birds food. To my back is the tee of a par 4. The ping of metal to golf ball is heard from time to time. Some yells of frustration sometimes follow.

I am here alone. From my days in sales, I am a stickler for being on time. Today I took it a little bit too far as I arrived 4 hours early. I arrived at Mr. G’s office at noon. He expected me at 4. I had looked at the wrong calendar and blundered. I will not make this mistake again. He was coming home for lunch, so he stopped at Wendy’s, bought me the chicken mandarin salad and I followed him to the house. His wife Grace was to be home for lunch as well. I felt bad about being early, but they are taking to their plans and I am taking to the keyboard.

After sitting down for 30 minutes I knew why my friend sent me to talk to Mr. G. I will explain after we talk more why that is, but it is. I am going to watch some golf and some nature and try to catch up on some emails. I can’t wait to hear both of their stories. Mr. G has been in the financial field for 30 plus years, this after retiring from flying planes in the U.S. Air Force. Grace is the Dean of the College of Life Science at a university here. Fun stuff. I can’t wait to get the tour of the town and the house.

I may move back inside and lose the audio. I am in Southern Louisiana. It’s hot out here.

On another note, I just got a call from Charles, the guy from England. He’s coming to New Orleans tomorrow.
