Little Rock, AR
It’s a sad day as I prepare to leave Little rock. My two weeks (it went by fast) have been way too much fun. I could see myself settling in LR later on down the road. I have some great friends here and the outdoor activities are a big draw. But, as the traveling goes, I am leaving to day to head to Memphis. As sad as I am to leave the Rock, I am really looking forward to seeing my brother, his wife, and their two kids, my nieces. Hope is 2 and Hattie was born a couple of months ago. I haven’t seen Hattie yet and Hope will have changed so much from last time it will be like seeing a new person. I can’t wait to pick them up and hug on them and all of that. They are my only nieces. I’ll try to spoil them.
My last night in Little Rock worked out differently than I had planned. I was supposed to meet my friend Brian for drinks, then hit Brad’s, then see Bobby (webmaster), then meet up with King and Jonathan for Yo La Teango. Instead, I met up with Brian at Flying Saucer. We caught up. I hadn’t seen him in 6 years. Then I went to Brad’s. From Brad’s I called Bobby and rescheduled our meeting to 8:30 this morning. That went well. Then I called King about the show. He called me back and said they were sold out. We were bummed. I don’t know much of the band, except for the CD’s I’ve been listening to, but any show in a small venue is cool. So I ended up becoming magnetized to Brad’s couch and stayed there most of the night. That happens sometimes at Brad’s. We watched the NBA Finals. What a game. Kobe is the man. I may not respect his role as a husband, but as a baller, he is the best thing going today.
I made it home to hang with King for a bit, but I was drowsy and hit the sack in order to be prepared for the 8:30. Bobby made it over and we did our thing. I’m hoping to have some updates o the website. Some more pictures will be the biggest thing. I get asked about that a lot.
Now here I am. I have a lunch interview and then I head to Memphis. I have a phone interview to do at 5 and then an interview tomorrow AM. Things will be busy for a while.
My Little Rock cocoon is broken. I’ll fly to Memphis and be there until Monday. Then to Cinci and then home on Wednesday. I will then fly to Vegas for Mike and Krista’s wedding. I have known them since I was in high school. It will be great to see them married. I made a big mistake not too long ago by not going to a friend from Rochester’s wedding because of time and money. I regret that each time I talk to him. I will not have that feeling again. So I will head to Vegas with fear for my cash, but happiness for them.
Onward. New Town. New People.
