This is weird to say, but thank goodness it is Monday. It’s been a long weekend and I am just back to normal mental capacity. Friday was basketball watching with friends from 1 PM to midnight. We even got a taste of the coming day with 9 bagpipers making sweet music in the bar for a good hour.

Saturday was the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. If you live in Rochester, then this day and this parade is known as something to be a part of. It didn’t matter that we got 6 inches of snow the night before. It didn’t matter that it was 30 degrees and windy. There were still tons of people lining the streets and the bars. I was one of them. We had a big crew, maybe 14 at its peak.

I was bundled up as best I could. I must be older and wiser because I wore boots. I don’t wear boots. Now, they weren’t moon boots, but boots none the less. I don’t think you could really tell, they look just like black shoes, but they have a side zipper and went up to my calf. Not aesthetically perfect, but I learned, very warm. From there it was t shirt, long sleeve white t, bright green Ithaca is Gorges t shirt, and a black and green flannel. I had my heavy black coat and black skull cap. A party goer gave me a shamrock sticker that went from my cheek to slapped onto the center of the hat, covering up the Nike sign. Gloves and a scarf were also part of the outdoor mix.

We hit a few places and a house party. I may be 31, but I still haven’t learned the importance of eating during a marathon day such as Saturday. I love to eat, maybe more than anyone I know, but for some reason when the party is going and my energy is up, food disappears from thought. And when a beer or two is involved, that means chicanery. I did not bring my A game. I was out of commission earlier than anyone and in bed by 9:30. Yesterday had my mental synapses moving as if they were going through peanut butter. Slow mo.

But, I went to a nice breakfast and then watched some hoops with the family over at my sister’s on their new HD TV. I am back today. And I finished the first part of The Dream Giver. Excellent. I can really identify.

And the babies keep coming. My cousin and his wife in Charlotte, my former roommates, just had their second baby girl. The Harrison clan expanded at 5:47 PM yesterday!

And some friends in Rochester just had a baby boy, I believe it was on the 24th of Feb. More congrats!

My bracket is currently in 1st out of 42. 14 out of 16 teams left. But it is very early. You don’t win these things in the first weekend. It’s all about the Final Four.
