Hollywood

I’ve been on a bit of a movie kick which has been a good mind dump during all of this writing. My dad and I went to see Walk the Line, about the life of Johnny Cash. I only knew a handful of his songs, but you don’t need to know them to like the movie. I sometimes give actors a hard time, but in this case, Joaquin Phoenix was awesome. He played and sang the part like a champ, like he was born for the part. That’s not the case because he couldn’t sing or play prior to the movie. That’s talent. I am also told the lovely Reese Whitherspoon sang all of her parts too. Keep the brunette thing. The story is a good one about his battles to find peace within himself. It took him a long time, but he overcomes. I liked the story of Ray Charles better, but overcoming blindness and heroin is a stronger life case. I am told Jamie Foxx did not sing and play 100% of the tunes. I’m not sure if that is right or not.

I went from serious to not so serious with Bewitched. Yes, it was a date movie. Better than I thought with a few very funny parts. But still Bewitched.

A couple of nights ago I settled into an empty house and I heart Huckabees. I had no idea what it was going to be about. It was more weird than funny, but weird in a thought provoking way. A lot about the search for meaning and purpose. I am not sure if I will hire existential detectives, but the movie made you think.

I just got back my sample chapters from my editor for the book proposal. I send the second edition tomorrow to my potential agent. I feel very good about what is being sent. Hopefully some good news on the horizon.
