I went and saw the musical Movin’ Out last night. It is all dance and all Billy Joel music. I hadn’t been to the theatre in a long time. I forgot how much dedication it took to do what they do. For two hours, nonstop moving, dancing, jumping, and throwing. It was very impressive. The girls in their short skirts and hard bodies also were impressive. I guess if you were a girl in the audience you would be talking about the guys in the tight jeans. But, I am a man and the girls were quite hot.
It takes so much hard work and so much of your life to become a dancer. I guess it is like most creative fields, there are so many people with the talent. It is such a small margin of error in getting a break. Timing, talent, and luck all play a part. For all of the people that were on stage last night, I wonder how many tried out, were passed over, and are having to work two jobs to support their dream. It is really impressive. I guess I am even more impressed by the people still fighting their way to get to the top. If my journey is about passion, I should talk to someone in the hunt, who has had the setbacks, and is still in it to win it. What a battle it must be.
Time to go celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
