I just got back Hobart and William Smith Colleges. I gave a talk on what my fraternity has meant to me in college and in life. In particular, I highlighted how my fraternity contacts have helped me on my journey. Without them, you wouldn’t be reading this. A fraternity brother I had never met before built most of and maintains all of this website.

Any time I talk to college students, it takes me back to my times in Arkansas and South Carolina. In this case, more so Arkansas because my fraternity experiences were more detailed there. I still marvel how a guy from NY can move to Arkansas and make best friends with guys from totally different backgrounds. The guys I met there are still my boys. I was the best man in a wedding. One of my friend’s wives is editing my book. Whoever it is, it seems like I can pick up like it was yesterday.

There are so many memories from back there. The parties, the meetings, the arguing. But mainly it’s all about the friends. Us golfing or playing cards or trying to chase women or sports. I can’t help but smile and laugh. What a bunch of characters.

As I told the guys tonight, my fraternity experiences shaped who I am and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
