7:30 PM

I am back in my old stomping grounds. I took I-40 over from Memphis yesterday afternoon. I had made that drive tons of times during my college days. The sun was setting in the right spot where there was a steady glare for most of the time. Fall is upon us, as it was too cool for the sunroof.

Today was an early day. My talk was at 8:30 AM, so I was up and at it early. I went over my PPT and made sure the clothes I ironed the night before were ready. I didn’t sleep that well, which is normally the case when I have a talk the next day.

I arrived tot he Credit Union building and had close to 20 people in the group. The main goal was to talk about motivation and what it can mean to your life, to your work and to your company. No one fell asleep and they clapped after I was done, so I think it went well. The people that brought me in for it seemed to be pleased.

I left at about noon feeling on top of the world. It is a huge rush to get up in front of a group of strangers and connect with them. Foolishly, I took that high to the golf course. My friend Brent (where I’m typing this) and I went to my old college course, Hindman. It’s not the best layout or the best kept, but for $17, it was worth it. I had some good shots and some bad ones. Consistency is not my name. I had a birdie and then followed it up with a triple. That summed up the golf.

I’ve taken an Andrew, hit the shower, ironed some jeans, and am headed out to meet some friends from back in the day. It is always fun to see as many as I can.

I did go down to campus today and tried to meet up with my old writing professor. He wasn’t around, but I left him a copy of the Worthwhile Magazine. I also stepped into the old fraternity house. I met some of the members and some eager to handshake pledges. I also got to resign my name to the leather paddles. Some idiot stole them a while back. 500 names and all of those years down the drain for a prank. Stupid. But I resigned today.

Time to go to Grumpy’s. If Brent is waiting on me, there is something wrong. The king of piddle is telling me to go. Late…
