Last night I sat in the office of a well respected university professor in the field of human motivation. As I asked him questions, he responded on various topics including motivation at work, education, healthcare, and in day to day life activities, I couldn’t help but laugh. “I could sit here and talk for hours,” I told him. And it was true. Being there talking with a guy who has spent 40 years researching motivation, I was where I wanted to be.

And today, on the third anniversary of me hitting the road to find my career and to find me, last night is what it is all about. Dr. Deci is one of the founders of the self-determination theory. They say, “to be self-determined is to endorse one’s actions at the highest level of reflection. When self-determined, people experience a sense of freedom to do what is interesting, personally important and vitalizing.”

I don’t know if I’m self-determined or not, but I do know that last night and all of the experiences I’ve had over the past three years have been all three of those things: interesting, personally important and vitalizing.

There are so many amazing stories packed full of advice out there, it’s my job to find them and share them. The sharing has already begun, but it will really take shape once my book is out. I had a good call with my agent this morning and hopefully some positive steps will happen in the next couple of weeks.

It’s time to transcribe the interview, get ready for a 4PM stint with the Masters, and then prepare for Easter. Have a great holiday.
